Tudor City is one of my favorite spots in the whole city, and it's been many years since the group has sketched here. Come join us to sit and draw in the shade of the tranquil parks, that also host stellar views of the UN, Chrysler Building, and 42nd Street.

We'll meet at the entrance to the south half of the park, Tudor City Greens.

What makes our Meetups different from other art groups and classes? There's no instruction, but we like to share our work, and chat and be inspired. Share tips and learn from people in a casual environment where all levels of artists are welcome! Don't be shy to ask anyone anything!

• We sketch for a bit, usually 45 minutes or so, and then get back together and share our drawings, and then sketch again, etc. There's usually time for 3 sketches.

• Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, watercolor, pastel, small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you.

• We hand out nametags so everyone can meet one another!

• We take photos to share on the site later. Take a bunch!

• Sorry, but please leave the dogs at home; they tend to step on the artwork. Thanks.

• The Meetup is FREE and everyone at all skill levels is welcome!

Open Figure Drawing allows artists to engage with live nude models for a variety of poses. STUDIO SLEW provides an array of materials, including charcoal, pencils, drawing boards, and newsprint paper. There are no skill-level requirements! We draw from a range of pose durations, from 1min to 20 min studies.

What to Expect: We'll spend around 3-4 hours outdoors in the city, making art and enjoying each other's company. After the painting session, we will go to a nearby cafe/restaurant to further connect.
Expect a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you can unleash your creativity and connect with fellow artists.

Elizabeth Street Garden (ESG) in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood is a community garden that has become a symbol of resistance against urban development. The park, which occupies a 20,000-square-foot lot between Prince and Spring Streets, was established in the 1990s by a local business owner, Allan Reiver, who leased the land from the city and filled it with sculptures and greenery. Over time, it became a beloved green space for residents.

Early Use: The site of the garden was originally a public school, demolished in the 1970s, leaving the lot vacant for years.
1990s: Allan Reiver transformed the lot into a garden with sculptures, benches, and paths. Though informally created, it became a community spot.
2013: The city proposed building affordable housing on the site as part of the Housing New York plan. The local community and activists rallied to save the garden.

Agenda:
1:00 PM - 1:10 PM: We'll gather under the entrance of the Garden, then explore the park and nearby streets for the next 15-20 minutes to find the perfect spot for our easels this afternoon.
1:30 PM : 3:30 PM Painting session.
3:30- 4:00PM - Regroup and Show and Tell. (times are tentative, exact times will be announced during the event)

If you are new, Introduce yourself and your art practice, with the group, share your work(optional), sources of inspiration, and thoughts on the overall experience.

After 4 PM we'll head out of the garden and get some grub at a nearby place.
We encourage you to stay as this is the part that helps us truly connect and foster a meaningful connection with each other.

What to Bring:
1. Something to paint with - your preferred painting mediums, oil paints, watercolors, acrylics, gouache, ink, pastel, markers etc.
Brushes, pens and or pencils
2. Something to paint on - linen, canvas, paper, sketchbook etc.
3. Easels/pochade box (optional)
Beginners can join in with just a sketchbook or an iPad.
4. Dress comfortably for outdoor painting and walking, bring a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle and bug spray.

This is my neighborhood park, and I love it. Known for its flowers and some of the gorgeous architecture surrounding it. It's been 3 years since we sketched here as a group. Come draw with us!

The park is split in half. Let's meet in the west side of the park in the middle, next to the fountain and statue of Peter Stuyvesant. This is next to 2nd Avenue and 16th Street.
